    Trend Tools

SimpleAlgo's trend tools help you identify, follow, and capitalize on established directional moves in the market.

    The Power of Trend Trading

The most consistent profits in trading come from riding established trends. SimpleAlgo's trend tools help you identify trend strength, direction, and optimal entry points within trending markets.

    Active Trend

The Active Trend overlay is your primary tool for understanding market direction. It visually displays the prevailing trend through dynamic coloration that adapts to momentum and volatility.

    Strong Bullish

Consistent bright green coloration indicates strong upward momentum. Ideal for long positions and trend continuation strategies.

    Transitional

Mixed or muted colors suggest consolidation, trend exhaustion, or potential reversal. Exercise caution.

    Strong Bearish

Consistent red coloration indicates strong downward momentum. Ideal for short positions and bearish strategies.

    Trading with Active Trend

    Trend Following Strategy

    • • Only take buy signals when Active Trend is green or transitioning to green
    • • Only take sell signals when Active Trend is red or transitioning to red
    • • Avoid trading during transitional/mixed colors unless you have strong confluence

    Counter-Trend Strategy

    • • Look for reversal signals when trend shows signs of weakening
    • • Wait for color transition to confirm momentum shift
    • • Use tighter stops and quicker profit targets
    • • Higher risk, requires more experience

    Trend Cloud

The Trend Cloud is a smoothed volatility-momentum indicator that provides additional context about trend strength and potential transitions.

    Cloud Behavior

    Compressed Cloud

When the cloud flattens or compresses, it signals:

    • • Consolidation phase beginning
    • • Reduced volatility
    • • Potential trend transition ahead
    • • Opportunity to prepare for breakout

    Expanding Cloud

When the cloud expands in direction of momentum:

    • • Trend acceleration occurring
    • • Increased volatility
    • • Strong directional conviction
    • • Good for trend continuation trades

Combining Active Trend + Trend Cloud

    Maximum Confluence Setup

The strongest trend continuation signals occur when both tools align:

    • ✓ Active Trend shows strong directional color (green or red)
    • ✓ Trend Cloud is expanding in the same direction
    • ✓ Confirmation signal appears aligned with both
    • ✓ Price action confirms momentum

    Best Practices for Trend Trading

    1

    Trade With The Trend

The majority of your trades should align with Active Trend direction. Counter-trend trades should be rare and highly selective.

    2

    Use Higher Timeframes for Context

Check the trend on a higher timeframe. If 4H is bullish, focus on buy signals on the 15m chart.

    3

    Let Trends Run

Use Auto Trailing Stop Loss to protect profits while allowing trend continuation. Don't exit too early.

    4

    Watch for Cloud Compression

When Trend Cloud starts compressing after a strong move, consider taking partial profits or tightening stops.

    Advanced Tip

The strongest trending setups often occur after a period of consolidation (compressed cloud) followed by an expansion in one direction. This "compression-expansion" pattern signals the beginning of powerful trends.
