How Many Indicators Can You Use on a Free TradingView Account?
On the free plan you get two indicators per chart. That is the short answer, and it is the limit most new traders bump into within a week.
Indicator limits by plan
| Plan | Indicators per chart |
| --- | --- |
| Basic (free) | 2 |
| Essential | 5 |
| Plus | 10 |
| Premium | 25 |
Limits are per chart, not per account — so a multi-chart layout multiplies what you can display, but each individual chart still obeys the cap.
What counts toward the limit
Anything in the Indicators menu counts as a study: built-in indicators, community scripts, invite-only scripts, and strategies.
These do not count:
A single script that plots trend, momentum and signals together counts as one indicator. That is the main workaround: bundled scripts give you more information per slot.

Is upgrading worth it?
Upgrade when you are genuinely constrained — usually when you trade multiple timeframes and need volume tools, a trend filter and an oscillator on the same chart. If you are still deciding what you trade, two slots is plenty.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many indicators are free on TradingView?
TradingView's Basic (free) plan allows two indicators per chart, with unlimited access to the built-in and community script library within that limit.
Do drawings count toward the indicator limit?
No. Trendlines, boxes, Fibonacci tools and text are drawings, not studies, and do not use an indicator slot.
Does a strategy count as an indicator?
Yes. Strategies use a study slot the same way indicators do.
Can I use more indicators by opening more charts?
Yes. The limit applies per chart, so a multi-chart layout on a paid plan effectively raises how much you can see at once.
A practical note
SimpleAlgo is built as a small number of bundled scripts precisely because of this cap — trend, signals and levels come from one overlay, which leaves a free account a spare slot for anything else you want to test. See what is in the suite.
