Repainting, answered
Does Pro Signals V5 repaint?
No. Once a candle closes, a Pro Signals V5 signal is final. It will not move, change direction or disappear afterwards.
There is one thing every TradingView user should know: while a candle is still forming, any indicator can show a signal and then remove it. That is how live candles work, not repainting. Below is exactly what can and cannot change, and how to check it yourself.
What can change, and what cannot
While the candle is forming
Price is still moving, so the indicator recalculates on every update. A signal can appear, update or disappear. Treat it as not final yet.
After the candle closes
The signal and its star rating are locked. What you see on past candles is what was shown at the time.
Why repainting matters
A repainting indicator rewrites its past signals after price has moved, so the history on your chart looks better than what you would have seen live. That makes old signals useless for judging the tool. With signals that stay fixed after close, the chart history is an honest record you can study.
Check it yourself in bar replay
You don't need to take our word for it. TradingView's bar replay shows candles one by one, the way they happened.
- 1Open a chart in TradingView and add Pro Signals V5.
- 2Click Replay in the top toolbar and pick a starting point in the past.
- 3Step forward one candle at a time and note every signal at the moment its candle closes.
- 4Exit replay and look at the same candles on the normal chart. The closed-candle signals should be in exactly the same places.
Tip: for alerts, choose "Once per bar close" so you are only alerted about final signals.
