Alerts
V5 ships 18 alert conditions so you never have to watch the chart. Set them once per symbol and timeframe.
Setting one up#
- 1Right-click the chart and choose Add alertOr press the alarm-clock icon in the right toolbar.
- 2Set Condition to SimpleAlgoPick the indicator, then pick the alert from the second dropdown (e.g. 🟢 Buy Signal).
- 3Set Trigger to Once Per Bar CloseThis matches how signals are confirmed and prevents false alerts mid-bar.
- 4Choose notificationsEnable push notifications to get alerts on the TradingView mobile app; add email or webhook if you need them.
- 5SaveRepeat per symbol and timeframe — TradingView alerts are chart-specific.
Every alert condition#
Search or filter to find the exact alert you need, then copy its name straight into TradingView.
A confirmed BUY ▲ printed on a closed bar.
Use it for: Your main long entry alert.
A confirmed SELL ▼ printed on a closed bar.
Use it for: Your main short entry alert.
Momentum turned against the active trade.
Use it for: Early exit / tighten stop.
Price reached the static 1:1 target.
Use it for: Take partials, move stop to breakeven.
Price reached the static 2:1 target.
Use it for: Scale out the second third.
Price reached the static 3:1 target.
Use it for: Close the runner.
First momentum extreme after entry.
Use it for: Discretionary partial profit.
Second momentum extreme after entry.
Use it for: Discretionary partial profit.
Third momentum extreme after entry.
Use it for: Usually the exhaustion point.
The trailing stop-loss was taken out.
Use it for: Trade is closed — stand down.
Price broke the most recent S&R level.
Use it for: Breakout continuation.
A BOS or CHoCH structure break occurred.
Use it for: Bias change warning.
The Active Trend ribbon flipped up.
Use it for: Higher-timeframe bias filter.
The Active Trend ribbon flipped down.
Use it for: Higher-timeframe bias filter.
The Trend Cloud flipped up.
Use it for: Slow, big-picture direction.
The Trend Cloud flipped down.
Use it for: Slow, big-picture direction.
Price tagged the lower reversal band.
Use it for: Potential bounce / cover shorts.
Price tagged the upper reversal band.
Use it for: Potential pullback / take profit.
